Anthropological study in Oceania, especially Papua New Guinea. My main topic is the civilization history of Pacific island countries.

Joined the IDE (Area Studies Department), 1979
Did the Fieldwork in Papua New Guinea, 1985-1987
Returned to Japan, 1987
Studied as a Visiting Research Fellow in the University of Sydney, 2003-2005
